    1. 1. Location – The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is located in Rome in Italy
    2. 2. Construction – Of the Colosseum, began under the Roman emperor Vespasian around 72 CE, it was completed in 80 CE under his successor, the Roman emperor Titus
    3. 3. The Largest Amphitheatre – The Colosseum is the largest known amphitheater ever built
    4. 4. Capacity – The Colosseum had a capacity of at least 50,000 spectators
    5. 5. Entrances – There were 80 entrances to the Colosseum, 76 for ordinary spectators, 3 for the elite, such as senators and the noble class, and one for the Emperor and his aides
    6. 6. The Inaugural Games – At the Colosseum were held in 80 CE or 81 CE, and they lasted more than 100 days, it is estimated that more than 5,000 animals were killed
    7. 7. The Hypogeum – A two-level network of tunnels and cages underneath the Colosseum, where gladiators and animals were held, was added by the Roman emperor Domitian
    8. 8. The Ludus Magnus – Also known as the Great Gladiatorial Training School, to the west of the Colosseum, could seat around 3,000 spectators, to watch the gladiators training
    9. 9. UNESCO World Heritage Site – In 1980, as part of the Historic Center of Rome, the Colosseum was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site
    10. 10. New 7 Wonders Of The World – Chosen from a selection of 200 existing monuments, the Colosseum was voted as one of the New 7 Wonders Of The World in 2007
